A field used for cattle, deep in the Mayan Biosphere. Some people say that progress is needed, but is this the way, destroying nature? I entered the fire there it was really like hell. My first thought was "so this is what a war sounds like", everything was cracking trees down.
To think, this is the third largest forest in the Americas... In no time it will go bust...
I really like that you show both burnt and green land. and the fact that you have a deep DoF and can see many hills. It really adds to the Drama of the shot. I think if you had had one of the half burnt trees closer to the foreground so you could see more charring carnage it would add impact. Another suggestion would have been to 1) shoot closer to sunset/sunrise so the sky is not so blown out or 2) used a graduated ND filter so that you can darken the sky a little bit. I understand much of whats blown out is from the smoke, but its a little too intense and draws your eye immediately. There is a possibility too, that by reducing the blown out part, you might get some more detail back in the smoke?
